The holidays are over and winter is upon us! It is time for hot cocoa and chili dinners with friends and family.
I know you will want to sit down by the fire and read this issue of Home in the Northland cover to cover.
Our feature story is one of family and tradition of a father passing a successful business to his deserving sons. The Crossley family has been a large part of the Northland for many years. Todd and Ryan went to grade school and high school here in the Northland, played sports and helped their dad at Gary Crossley Ford. They have both returned after college to raise families here in the Northland and take over the family business.
The restaurant is also a story of a return back to where it began. Cafe Italia was a favorite of many Kansas Citians for 17 years when the restaurant was on North Oak. They closed for what I think was two years too long and have returned bigger and better than ever. They have reopened in beautiful Parkville along the Missouri River. Stop in and say hello to Guy and Paul and tell them you are glad they are back!
Our home is that of Matt and Sabrina Wiewel. Their home is filled with the past and the present. The Wiewels are well traveled and their home is filled with stories and artifacts of adventure and family history. So join me as we look inside this unique home nestled in River Hills Estates.
Fashion and beauty as always is a fun section of the magazine. January and Brad have really put together a fun fashion shoot that we hope will get you out shopping even in the cold weather! Sharon, our beauty editor, has some great tips to keep us looking good until spring appears!
Check out the “Last word with Phil LeVota.” He has an interesting story for you to read about Justus Drugstore in Smithville and the legal problems they had to undergo to keep their name.
Travel will also not disappoint. Our travel expert Liane Lance is taking us on an adventure to breathtaking Alaska. She also has some great ideas for some family car trips when the ice thaws and spring break is here!
As always I want to thank you the readers and the advertisers who help make this a fun magazine to produce. I never run out of great places to highlight. We also have an incredible staff that has helped make this an international award-winning magazine. I consider it an honor to be publishing editor.
